POETRY

LEISURE

(By William Davies)

Q.01. Our busy life has made our life dull and colourless and we are unable to enjoy the simple delights of life, discuss.                                Or
What are some of the things that we miss because of lack of time?

Ans: In this poem, the poet criticizes materialistic and busy life of the modern man. The modern man is as busy as a machine. As a result, he does not find any time to enjoy the beauties of nature, which is present around him in various forms. The poet thinks that we must find some spare time from our daily routine activities in order to enjoy the beauties of nature. This is the only way through which we can make our life happy and worth living.

The poet says that our absorption in worldly pursuits does not allow us to relish the beautiful aspects of nature. The modern man does not even have time to stand beneath the beautiful trees. He does not find any spare time to stop for a while and stare at the beauty around him in form of sheep and cows. He does not have time to go to the woods and see beautiful squirrels hiding their nuts.
